Winterizing Instructions - Crestwood Pools
Crestwood Winterizing Instructions

1. Prior to closing, the pool should be thoroughly vacuumed and checked for proper chemical balance.

2. Add the proper winterizing chemicals and leave the filter running for at least 24 hours in order to evenly distribute all chemicals.

3. Drain the pool water level 1" below the bottom of the skimmer faceplate. Remove directional flow and plug the return line. Remove skimmer hoses and return hoses. DO NOT PLUG SKIMMER.

4. Remove all coping clips by lifting the outside edge of the clip outward and slightly upward, then slide clip inward. Duct tape must be applied to the top of all coping joints and sharp areas where the cover may snag, rip or tear. Store clips in a safe place. Clips MUST be replaced in the Spring.

5. Locate a large area, free of sharp objects, and remove cover from box. Unroll cover and flip out material that is folded inward toward the center. Make sure cover is positioned to assure proper engagement of beaded portion of cover into the outside track of the coping (Refer to Figure 1). Lift cover over the pool wall and start inserting beaded portion of cover into the outside track. Unfold and insert one fold of the cover at a time, so that no water is trapped on top of the cover.

6. After the cover is completely inserted into the track, lock the cover in place by rolling the clothesline into the same track as the beaded portion of the cover using the rolling tool and clothesline provided. Be sure to use the "U" shaped wheel of the rolling tool. (Refer to Figure 2)

IMPORTANT: Remove the water that accumulates on top of the cover after each rainstorm (prior to freezing) and immediately upon the thawing of snow and ice in the Spring. Your warranty will be void should more than 1/2" - 1" of water be allowed to remain on the cover. Remove any leaves or heavy debris that may accumulate on the cover.

OPENING YOUR POOL: Pump water off cover, remove clothesline, pull cover downward and outward to release beaded portion from track. Cover should be cleaned before storing in a large plastic storage container filled with water and one cup of 30% algaecide. Install coping clips by reversing the method described in step 4. Hook up filter system, fill pool with water and begin normal operations.
